Transmission standards.

Transmission standards.

It indicates the behavior of cable pairs with electrical signal which traverses through it . Transmission standards of cable consists of standard insulation of cable pairs, loop resistance, line loss, resistance unbalanced etc. etc.

Drop of Signal from Exchange to sub-office.
Maximum permissible transmission losses from MDF to DPs is = 8dbs

Insulation P,S & Junction

S Cable > 5000 M ohms/Km
P Cable > 1000 M ohms/Km
Jn Cable > 2000 M ohms/Km

Loop Resistance P,S & Jn cable

Cond dia Rs/Km
0.4 mm 300 ohms
0.5 mm 185 ohms
0.6 mm 127 ohms

Resistance un-balance P,S & Jn cable
Resistance measured b/w two conductor of any pair & unbalanced %tage shall be calculated.
Cond dia Ave Rs/Km
0.4 mm 1.5% 300 ohms
0.5 mm 1.5% 185 ohms
0.6 mm 1.5% 127 ohms

Line Loss
P,S & Jn cable
Measure with a Transmission Measuring Set It shall be terminated at its characteristic impedance.

Cond dia Impedance
0.4 mm 900 ohms
0.5 mm 730 ohms
0.6 mm 600 ohms

Cond dia atten/Km
0.4 mm 1.88 db
